IRW PUTS JOY IN A BOTTLE Leave it to IRW to put joy in a bottle! We are thrilled to announce the release of our first ESTATE Sparkling Wine called Joy. Harvested from the vineyard we call "Grandpa's Hill", this wine is a blend of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Gewurztraminer from the Icicle Ridge estate in Peshastin. The grapes were harvested in October 2013 during an excellent growing season in Washington. The whole grape clusters were direct-pressed to yield a very high quality of juice during fermentation. The juice was initially harvested at 20 brix with high acidity, ideal conditions for sparkling wine. The still wine was fermented in stainless steel for serveral weeks. Two hundred cases were initially bottled in December 2013 and remained in this primary bottle for aging for thirteen months. The wine was riddled during this time until it was time for disgorging.
